Yours, Mine, and Ours
by Anne C. Bernstein

This book is for anyone dealing with the question, “Should we or shouldn’t we?” Remarried parents with children who are contemplating an ”ours” child often wonder if they have what it takes to make one more division of their time, energy, money, and attention. As important as that is, there’s an even more compelling question: What will the addition of an “ours” child do to a household already abundant with fragile relationships?

Bernstein’s book, full of good research and insights, draws on her own background as a family therapist, a stepmother, a mother, as well as the experience of 50 other couples. Though there’s nothing simple about this family formation, Bernstein’s personal conclusion is uplifting.
